Introduction

The Directorate of Training & Employment, Uttar Pradesh (DET-UP) is working under the Department of Labour & Employment as well as Department of Vocational Education & Skill Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh. The Directorate of Training & Employment, Uttar Pradesh consist of two services and these are:

  • Industrial Training Service
  • Employment Service

Training Services is being imparted through a network of 305 Government Industrial Training Institutes and more than 2963 Private Industrial Training Institutes spread over the 75 Districts in the State.
The Employment Service is rendered through the 11 District Employment Exchanges and 2 Sub-Divisional Employment Exchanges in the State.

Objectives

Training Wing

  • Vocational Training is concerned with imparting and acquisition of skills, knowledge and attitude.
  • It includes pre-service Training, apprenticeship Training and in-service Training.
  • It also includes upgradation of skills.

Employment Wing

  • To promote co-ordination between manpower supply and demand by rendering job assistance to job seekers/Employers.
  • To promote employability of job seekers and students through Vocational Guidance activities.
  • To facilitate Manpower Planning and analysis through effective implementation of Employment Market Information.

DTE-UP functions with the major objectives of providing Vocational Training to the youths in Uttar Pradesh. To achieve these objectives the DTE-UP runs a variety of long-term and short-term training programmes in Industrial Training Institutes in the State. The DTE-UP is the apex organization for development and coordination at state levels for the programmes relating to vocational trades to meet the skilled manpower requirements for technology and industrial growth in the country. To ensure a steady flow of skilled worker in different trades for industry, as well as raise the quality & quantity of industrial production by scientific training. All the Government Industrial Training Institutes are under the administrative and financial control of this Directorate.
